Steve Bachmann is Of Counsel and a patent prosecution specialist with the Firm.
Steve actively counsels clients on the prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent and trademark applications before the USPTO and foreign patent offices. He has extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of patent portfolio strategy, acceleration, reissue, reexamination, appeals, and post-grant review (PGR). Steve also counsels clients on IP development and strategy, licensing and technology transfer, open source, competitor IP analysis and investigations, IP related due diligence. He is also often called upon to issue opinion of counsel letters regarding product non-infringement and patent invalidity.
Steve has a broad range of technical experience, including artificial intelligence, distributed networks, server architecture, cloud-based computing, encryption and network security, internet and casino gaming, semiconductor materials, devices and fabrication, laser systems, optical systems, VoIP, antennas, propagation and mobile technologies, digital signal processing, power and battery systems, energy systems, control systems, computer systems, peripherals, memory storage systems, clean energy and solar, and other areas of software and hardware.
Prior to entering the legal field, Steve worked as a Design Engineer with National Semiconductor in Santa Clara, CA, where he designed integrated circuits in the company’s Audio Technology Group. Steve lives in the Bay Area and enjoys biking, swimming, movies and cooking for his family.
